Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes Rejects Saudi Arabia Move

June 3, 2025

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has rejected a potential £100m move to the Saudi Pro League, reportedly turning down a significant pay rise from Al Hilal. The Portuguese midfielder is committed to his current contract with United, which runs until 2027.

Manchester United's star player and captain, Bruno Fernandes, has reportedly turned down an opportunity to transfer to the Saudi Pro League. Despite Al Hilal making a lucrative £100m offer, Fernandes has chosen to remain in European football, believing he still has plenty to contribute at the top level. The proposed deal would have seen the Portuguese midfielder's weekly wages almost tripled from his current £250,000 at Manchester United. Since his transfer from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has made significant contributions to United's performance. The 30-year-old has an impressive record, having contributed to 98 goals and provided 87 assists in 290 games across all competitions. Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, expressed confidence in Fernandes' commitment to the team. Despite the allure of an increased salary, Amorim believes that Fernandes' decision to stay shows his ambition to win and compete in the world's best league. Looking ahead, Manchester United is expected to make a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. The club values Mbeumo at over £60m and believes he is a good fit for Amorim's system. Brentford is open to offers, and Mbeumo himself is reportedly interested in a move to Old Trafford.
