Trent Alexander-Arnold Gears Up for Real Madrid Introduction

June 12, 2025

Following a successful contract agreement, Real Madrid is readying to unveil Trent Alexander-Arnold as its new recruit. The English defender will officially join the La Liga giants this Thursday.

Real Madrid is all set to welcome Trent Alexander-Arnold into their ranks this Thursday. The English right-back will be stepping into his new role after signing a six-year contract with the La Liga giants. The club had previously announced reaching a consensus with Liverpool to prematurely end the 26-year-old's contract ahead of the Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold will be officially inked by Real Madrid, with his contract set to extend until June 30, 2031. Following this, a formal presentation will be held by President Florentino Perez at the Valdebebas training ground. Alexander-Arnold's departure from Liverpool marks the end of his 20-year relationship with the club. During his tenure, he rose to prominence as one of the world's leading full-backs, clinching nine trophies, which included the 2019 Champions League and Premier League titles in 2020 and 2025. The English international has also represented his country in three major tournaments: the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, and Euro 2024. Alexander-Arnold had been on Real Madrid's radar for quite some time, and his decision to not renew his contract with Liverpool paved the way for his move to Madrid. The club had made attempts to sign him in January as a replacement for the injured captain Dani Carvajal, but Liverpool had turned down the offer. However, after Alexander-Arnold expressed his desire for a 'new challenge', Madrid managed to negotiate an early release before his contract's expiry date of June 30. As part of the agreement, Madrid reportedly paid a fee of €10 million, although the official figures were not disclosed. The club is hoping that Alexander-Arnold's participation in the Club World Cup in the United States will help him transition smoothly into the team while enhancing their chances of success in the tournament. Aside from Alexander-Arnold, Madrid has also signed centre-back Dean Huijsen ahead of the Club World Cup, as part of their defensive revamp under new coach Xabi Alonso.
