Tottenham's Pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White Complicated by Potential Legal Action from Nottingham Forest
July 11, 2025
Nottingham Forest is reportedly contemplating legal action over Tottenham Hotspur's alleged illegal approach to midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. The proposed transfer is expected to be delayed due to potential legal complications.
Nottingham Forest is allegedly considering taking legal steps to challenge Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of their midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White. Forest claims that Spurs' approach to the player was unauthorized and hence illegal, causing them to cease all communications with the London-based club. This legal wrangle is expected to delay the proposed transfer of Gibbs-White to Tottenham. It's reported that Tottenham triggered a £60m release clause in the player's Forest contract, a move which Forest sees as a breach of confidentiality since the bid matched the exact amount of the release clause. Although it remains unclear whether Forest can halt the transfer entirely, the club is reportedly preparing to lodge a complaint with the Premier League. Both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur have declined to comment on the matter.
