Liverpool's Jarell Quansah on His Way to Bayer Leverkusen, Marc Guehi Not a Direct Replacement
June 20, 2025
Liverpool is on the verge of selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, while potential replacement Marc Guehi's move is still uncertain. Meanwhile, the club finalizes Florian Wirtz's transfer.
Liverpool is nearing a decisive agreement to transfer Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, a deal expected to exceed £34m. Although Marc Guehi, currently sought after by several clubs including Arsenal, has been linked with Liverpool, his transfer is far from certain. Guehi is said to be seeking assurances of regular first-team playtime, which complicates negotiations. It is unlikely, therefore, that he will directly replace Quansah. Liverpool's focus is reportedly on young, high-potential talents, demonstrated by their interest in Leny Yoro last summer and Dean Huijsen, who recently joined Real Madrid. Despite Quansah's departure, Liverpool remains confident in their defensive options. Florian Wirtz is set to finalize his £100m move to Liverpool and is due to sign a five-year contract with a minimum weekly salary of £195,000, following a successful medical examination.
