Antonio Returns to the Pitch After Six-Month Recovery from Car Accident
June 17, 2025
Antonio has made a triumphant return to football after recovering from a severe car accident. He played as a substitute in Jamaica's recent match against Guatemala.
Following a half-year hiatus due to a serious car accident, Antonio made a noteworthy comeback. He was fielded as a substitute in the second half of Jamaica's match against Guatemala, which ended in a 1-0 loss. Back in December, Antonio experienced a severe lower limb fracture when his Ferrari veered off road into a tree. The incident resulted in a three-week hospital stay where he underwent surgery. Antonio, currently 35 years old and in contract discussions with West Ham, stated he felt 'grateful to be alive' after the accident. His current contract with West Ham is set to expire on June 30. Despite the ambiguities surrounding his contract status, the club has expressed its commitment to supporting Antonio through his ongoing rehabilitation process. Since becoming a part of West Ham in 2015, Antonio has bagged 68 league goals in 268 matches, making him the all-time top scorer for West Ham in the Premier League.
